TEXTMASK hides objects by creating a mask object behind selected text or mtext. The mask object is offset from the text by a specified value. Text objects are grouped together with the mask objects so that they moved, copied, and erased together. To update the mask after editing the text, run TEXTMASK again, and select the text item to be updated.
Annotative text disappears when masked??
11/25/2008 · This is my first time using this feature and I found it very helpful so I am trying to introduce this to our drawings to save more time. I’ve noticed that my text disappears when I tried to masked it. Before masking it, I’ve set my layers to 0 and everything else to "by layers" in case this setting has something to do with it but still keeps on disappearing.

Remove Background Masking from Mtext | CAD Tips
It will remove the background mask from all mtext in an AutoCAD drawing. To use it, load the LISP routine and type in the command Demask. That’s it — there is no selection to make. The LISP code selects all the mtext in the drawing, and removes the background mask if it exists.

1/29/2011 · Thanks for the response. Whilst “background mask” IS a selectable property for mtext and multi-leader text, it is NOT an available property for dtext!! And it seems that the default setting of “off” for text masking cannot therefore be altered to “on” and saved in a template for future use.
