Make Objects unselectable, especially in Xref’s

11/17/2004 · But I believe the original question was to make it unselectable. What I believe is happening is that it takes forever for AutoCAD to select the whole object (must be pretty big). My first instinct was locking the layer, but I checked and it is still selectable.

1/8/2018 · I’d like to make certain layers permanently unselectable. That way users are not selecting a layer that they do not wish to see the attributes without having to navigate through a list of layers that may be on top of each other. These unselectable layers are for visual purposes only. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

As of now if I lock a layer, the objects cannot be moved or edited, but autocad still highlights them when the objects on this locked layer are selected. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a layer lock setting that would allow you to lock a layer but no be able to select it.
